So here goes... Some of you (probably few of you) will know I’ve had my challenges with anxiety and depression and for those of you that don’t – the secret's out. They say if we as a society are going to smash the stigma around mental health then it's important to talk about it - so here I am. I've overcome it with support from all angles and in my quest to help people I've setup The Finch Foundation and produced a book with the help of my colleagues at Tobias and the super talented illustrating whiz kid Alan Chen. The book is called LIGHT! It's a beautifully illustrated short story that talks about how anxiety and depression can present itself and proven tools and techniques that can be tried, practiced and learnt to better manage your mental health. It also includes a mental health toolkit offering places to turn for help as well as useful apps to download and books to read. For the Sydney siders there's a book launch happening on 19th Dec so please do come along and for those that aren't able or want more info here's my new website:
Suicide rates are rising and it's a massive problem that is confronting our community, so all monies raised through this project will be spent on printing more books with the aim of reaching more people, smashing the stigma and saving lives. This is our effort to make a difference. If we help just one person and save a life then it's been worth it.
Thanks to all that have supported me and with your help I hope this grows and becomes visible to everyone. A 'go-to' book that provides help and hope. A book that can be a shimmer of light in the distance, a beacon that can guide you through the darkest of times and, if needed, to places to get help.
Peace and love to all.
